Flowers Do Bloom
Funded by the Tow International Research Committee and awarded by Brooklyn College, this short documentary explores the impact of art on self-esteem development and concepts of personal freedom for three contemporary artists in South Africa. The country’s not-so-distant history of racial oppression provides an enduring lens through which to view how creative expression often serves as a catalyst for empowerment. This documentary is the first in a planned docu-series showcasing the interconnectedness of art and resilience among people of the African Diaspora. In Progress
